Nine former and current officials from Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in Myanmar visited Saemaul Geumgo and received training workshop to learn Korea's Saemaul Geumgo development model, which has achieved sound growth on the basis of the sustainable financial development highlighting savings and of the self-help development stressing cooperative principle. The workshop was successfully implemented for 12 days from 22th August to 2nd September. It consisted of various lectures about the principle utilizing cooperative features and savings, the establishment and organization, savings, loans, accounting of Saemaul Geumgo, etc. Also, participants visited Northern Cheongju Saemaul Geumgo and Southern Cheonan Saemaul Geumgo, watching Saemaul Geumgo's development and operation on site. In addition, Myanmarese participants voluntarily took part in discussions, so textbooks were succeeded to be localized.

Myanmar participants who successfully completed the workshop plan to start lectures at Myanmar Saemaul Undong Academy in Yangon to village leaders about what they learned from this program. Also, KFCC plan to support the establishment and operation of Saemaul Geumgo in Myanmar townships, promoting Myanmar Samaul Geumgo Movement. Former President of Thanlyin Cooperative University, Mr Thien Tun said, "Saemaul Geumgo development model highly underlining savings is what Myanmar really needs. Therefore, I will modify and supplement based on local circumstances and make that take strong root in Myanmar and contribute to the agricultural development". We wish Saemaul Geumgo's small step of education will become seeds of hope and create big and beautiful changes.
