□ KFCC conducted ‘Saemaul Geumgo Local Training to promote the rural development and financial inclusion in Uganda’ at the country’s Agricultural Leader Training Center from Mar. 11 to 22. The local training had its main goal in boosting the ability to operate the local Saemaul Geumgos and increase membership and savings. □ With total 80 executives and employees of Uganda Saemaul Geumgos in two sessions, the local training will effect substantial changes to the Uganda Saemaul Geumgos by also including working-level training such as the growth of Saemaul Geumgo, the training in its operation, and a tour of the cooperatives. □ Especially, the South Korean Saemaul Geumgo model plays a big part in addressing the financial alienation of the residents who are denied access to financial services in rural Uganda. □ At the training matriculation ceremony, Joseph Kitandwe, the cooperatives registrar of the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives (MTIC) said, “The South Korean model of Saemaul Geumgo is instilling hope in the hearts of the residents in Mpigi District,” and offered encouragement, adding, “The Ugandan government and the villagers will tap into the South Korean Saemaul Geumgo to overcome hardships and develop the villages.”
